On June 10-11, 2017, KACE hosted the KAGC Regional Seminar in Northern Virginia, in preparation for the 2017 Korean American Grassroots Conference (KAGC). In collaboration with the Korean American Association of Greater Washington Metropolitan Area (KAAWUSA), attendees explored the history of Korean Americans, and discussed the importance of grassroots activism and community organization.

On the evening of June 10, nearly 50 attendees gathered at the KAGC Regional Seminar’s gala dinner. The gala dinner was joined by Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (VA-10), Senator Susan Lee (MD), Senator Chap Petersen (VA), Delegate Mark Keam, Delegate Mark Chang, and Springfield Supervisor Pat Herrity. The elected officials applauded the efforts of our community, and urged the Korean American community to continue to do so, especially in light of recent events.

Since 2014, the annual Korean American Grassroots Conference (KAGC) has attracted over 600 attendees from 20 states, joined by 18 members of Congress from both sides of the aisle in the Senate and House of Representatives. At each conference, the attending community leaders and activists have engaged over 200 congressional offices on issues pertinent to the Korean American community.
