On June 26, 2017,  30 KACE Grassroots interns from New York and New Jersey toured the New Jersey Statehouse in Trenton, New Jersey. Through the visit, grassroots interns were able to meet with Senator Robert M. Gordon, and were provided with the opportunity to ask the Senator questions about his civic duties, and his role in the New Jersey state legislature.

Following the meeting, the interns were then given a tour around the New Jersey Statehouse building and met with several staff members. They visited the various meeting rooms in which floor debates are held, and learned in-depth the functions of the New Jersey Statehouse.

This meeting was organized to educate the Grassroots interns on the various functions and responsibilities of New Jersey state legislature. Throughout the summer, the interns will also visit the New York Statehouse (Albany) and the New York City Hall to directly meet their elected officials in the state governments and observe the state legislature at work.
