As part of our college student program “KAGC U,” KACE ran voter registration drive with UC Berkeley KASA and Berkeley Asian American Political Alliance (AAPA) on March 3, 2016.

Thanks to such passionate, hard work of the Asian American student leaders, we were able to assist 64 first-time voters to register and help with nearly 100 voting-related inquiries.

“KAGC U. Berkeley” stands out in that it also served as a platform for the Korean American students to further engage with other ethnic groups of the pan-Asian American community.

In the birthplace of the Asian America, these students shared with each other the programs of different student organizations and their plan to bring together all the groups to address the misrepresentation of the Asian American students and more.
[Fun fact: the term “Asian American” was coined by student activists who formed the group AAPA in 1968.]

The passion and leadership of the students were deeply moving. KACE looks forward to continue working with the young leaders at UC Berkeley and other universities across the country as part of KAGC U.

Registration is now open for those who wish to attend the 2016 KAGC U in Washington, D.C. on July 6th through 8th. As we expect 150 college students to join our first-ever college student conference, alongside the 3rd annual Korean American Grassroots Conference, register now before spaces run out!
