On April 13th, KACE was invited to host a seminar on the 2016 elections at the Korean American Senior Citizens Society of Greater New York (KASCSNY).

President Dongchan Kim of KACE pointed out that the mainstream America has the voter registration rate and turn-out rate above 80%, and that more active electoral participation of our community is key to leading our community to a leading position for the next generation.

Further, President Kim explained the importance of the upcoming NY primary. Now that it has become such a pivotal primary, he urged that our community should show more active participation in order for our community’s voting power to be recognized.

After the seminar, KACE assisted many audience members with voter registration. The most common case of the day was overdue address updates. Similar to many inquiries on KACE Voter Hotline, many Korean American voters were under the misconception that their address would be automatically updated.

KACE would like to share that those who moved within NYC are eligible for affidavit ballots at the poll site near the new address (applicable only within NYC limits, within 1 year of move).
