On August 11, 2016 KACE’s Grassroots Interns were visited by Closter Councilwoman Jannie Chung at KACE’s New Jersey office. Councilwomen Chung has constantly shown support of KACE and has even attended KACE’s KAGC Northeastern Regional Seminar back in June.
At the meeting, Councilwoman Chung highlighted the importance of grassroots activism by recounting her experience running for office. She stated how crucial it was for the students to always be politically active even when they are rejected. The Councilwoman displayed her appreciate for our interns’ efforts in engaging the Korean American community through daily voter registration drives.

The interns participated in a Q&A session with the councilwoman, designed to educate the interns on the functionality and responsibility in Korean American voter participation. Councilwoman Chung stated that students should always be persistent when registering voters and to always have a deeper connection with the Korean community around them.
