On June 14th. 2015, Korean American Civic Empowerment (KACE) conducted the 8080 Campaign at the New York Folk Festival for Children in Cunningham Park, Queens. The event was hosted and organized by the Wonkwang Community Service Center.

Staffs and high school interns of KACE asked the attendees of the festival for voter registration and distributed campaign pamphlets to promote awareness about voter participation. Councilman Peter Koo stopped by KACE’s booth and gave words of encouragement to the staffs.

8080 Campaign is a year-round campaign conducted by KACE. ‘8080’ stands for our goal of increasing voter registration rate to 80 percent and the turnout rate to 80 percent as well in the Korean American community. Higher voter registration and turnout rates are necessary to ensure that Korean Americans become respected members of the American society.

Organizations that would like to hold voter registration drives, or individuals who would like to support or participate in the campaign may contact KACE at (718) 961-4117, or info@kace.org.
