On November 18, 2013, Artist Steve Cavallo’s Comfort Women Art Exhibition and the screening of the documentary “Please Don’t Forget Us” was held at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library. This event was planned by New York State Assemblymember Charles Lavine, Artist Steve Cavallo, and Dr. Arthur Flug of the Kupferberg Holocaust Center at Queensborough Community College.
About 200 local residents listened intently as Assemblymember Lavine spoke about the purpose of the event and the issues concerning “Comfort Women.” Dr. Flug spoke about Korean American Civic Empowerment and the Kupferberg Holocaust Center’s joint effort on the comfort women issues.

Also, Mr. Cavallo explained the background of his artwork and his encounter with comfort women survivors during his visit to the House of Sharing in Korea. He also spoke about the threats that he received from Japanese extremists regarding this issue.
