On July 16th 2012, Korean American Civic Empowerment (KACE) interns visited Councilman Peter Koo's office.

KACE interns visited Councilman Koo's office to see the progress of Alternate Parking project and Comfort Women memorial that Korean American Civic Empowerment (formely Korean American Voters' Council) started on 2009.

Councilman Peter Koo appreciates KACE's visit to his office.

First, Councilman Koo briefly explained about the New York City Legislative; New York City Legislative makes a law for New York City, and acts as a bridge between city government and citizens.

Because there is good law and bad law, councilman listens to people's complaints and works for better local communty.

Councilman Koo asked KACE interns, "Do you know anything about Comfort Women?" Then interns replied, "Comfort Women issue is not resolved yet, and it is sad when we think about their pain and agnony. In order to solve this issue, we have to do everything we can."

Councilman Koo said these kind of problems are still existing. It is terrible that Comfort Women issue has not been resolved yet, and because of this issue, many other women's human right have not been resolved yet.

Councilman said, "Problem is not a money, it's about apology. In order to resolve this issue, we need an official apology."

Things that Councilman Koo can do as a councilman are rising an  attention of this issue and building a memorial and renaming the street to remember them.

Councilman Koo emphasizes that we are not attacking Japan, but their action has been very aggresive. Many Japanese sent angry mails to Councilman Koo's collegue, but they remain strong.

Councilman Koo has been bringing up to the disscusion about the alternate parking issue, but Department of Transportation (DOT) has not showed any response.

New York City Department of Transportation will announce its official view on this issue.
